SCHOLASTIC

There are quite a few titles in the Social Studies Kindergarten to Grade 8 Learning Resources: Annotated Bibliography available to order from Children's Press/Franklin Watts catalog as part of your Scholastic profits. I compiled an order (I had to pare it down, but I'll send you the whole order) and have managed to get some titles using my Certificate instead of other budget monies. If you were fortunate enough to have a super book fair and have profit left over, you may want to take advantage of this.

By putting the word "link" followed by a colon in front of the url, Altavista will find pages that contain that link. Even if your special page is forever lost, you'll discover other related pages this way. The (link:url trick) works with some other search engines besides Altavista.

Type your lost url in the query box this way link:http://the link's url e.g. link:http://libcat.sjsd.net/

PATHFINDERS

Pathfinders, those traditional library guides to research, are an excellent tool for guiding student research in the library. They allow you to steer students to both print and Internet resources in an easily accessible, logical format. The following information is taken from the article N-Gen Pathfinders meet N-Gen Students, by Joyce Kasman Valenza in VOYA, April 2004.

For guidance on creating pathfinders see:

Vandergrift's Pathfinder
